2 Tips on Humor and Interacting with Women

Earlier this week, we looked at the cliche of women wanting a man with a sense of humor. But just because it’s been well-proven that females don’t flock to comedians, that doesn’t mean that laughter has no place in socializing. Far from it, in fact.

Stylelife counts a number of trained comedians amongst our midst, so we turned to The Sneak, veteran of standup comedy and one-third of the well-known Los Angeles comedy band The Weekend Pilots for two tips on implementing a pro’s techniques into your game.

Sometimes it’s about Laughing with Her
Sharing a laugh with a woman doesn’t mean you have to be the one producing all the chuckles. It doesn’t mean that you are the one generating the guffaws. It can mean simply enjoying her own giggles. A lot of women consider their sense of humor to be uniquely off-kilter. If you are able to enjoy that, and laugh at her jokes, without making her feel like she is weird in an off-putting way, that goes a long way towards building rapport with her.

Learn to Deliver a Bit from Your Fav
Developing your own stories and material to get a laugh is a great long term goal. But as an intermediate step, you should learn to deliver someone else’s. You can credit them with writing the joke, but it’s still you who is giving her the feeling of joy and laughter. Simply pick up on a conversation topic. Let’s say that the group around you is discussing the media headlines about healthcare. You can say, “Have you heard what Chris Rock has to say about insurance?” and then you can repeat some of his lines from that bit of his standup. You can do this with whoever your favorite comedian might be, or whatever the material is.
